Dear Families,
We are entering the second week of our Family/Farm Unit. This week we are talking about our own family members and how they are the same/different from the families in our storybooks. Now that some of our stories are in the 2nd read, we can introduce our WH- questions to help develop story comprehension. Here are some examples of WH- questions for one of our stories last week, Corduroy. If you have any of our unit stories at home, or other favorites, you can try asking some WH questions with your child as well!
WHO- Who is the main character in the story?
Who found Corduroy upstairs in the furniture dept. of the store?
Who bought Corduroy from the department store?
Who brought Lisa to the store when she first met Corduroy?
WHAT- What kind of toy is Corduroy?
What was Corduroy looking for?
What did Lisa do for Corduroy at the end of the story to fix his
overalls?
WHERE- Where did Corduroy find a button?
Where did the watchman put Corduroy when he brought him
downstairs?
WHEN- When did Corduroy go and look for his lost button?
WHY- Why did the watchmen come running down the escalator?
Why was Corduroy looking for a button?
